DJ Maphorisa To Head Fuego Fest In Kigali Marking Amapiano Expansion Across East Africa

DJ Maphorisa to Headline Fuego Fest in Kigali

South African star DJ Maphorisa will headline Fuego Fest in Kigali, Rwanda, on October 26, 2025. The show will take place at Camp Kigali and promises a massive turnout. The lineup includes L.A.X, DJ Toxxyk, and other top African acts.

This concert shows how far Amapiano has spread from South Africa to East Africa. Fans in Kigali are ready for a night packed with energy, rhythm, and unity.

Amapiano’s Expansion Across the Continent

Amapiano started in Pretoria’s townships. Today, it dominates clubs in Nairobi, Kampala, and Kigali. The sound blends deep log drums with soulful melodies that attract fans across Africa.

DJ Maphorisa, known for hits like Izolo and Ba Straata, has been at the front of this movement. His Kigali performance will be his first major East African show in 2025.

Festival organizers say Fuego Fest will highlight Africa’s shared sound identity. “We want to show how music connects the continent,” one organizer told The New Times Rwanda.

Rwandan Fans Are Ready

Tickets went on sale in mid-September. The early-bird batch sold out in less than a week. Fans online have been buzzing with excitement and sharing countdown posts.

Local artist Mike Kayihura said, “Amapiano has taken over our clubs. Having Maphorisa here shows Rwanda’s growing place in African music.”

Over 8,000 fans are expected to attend. Visitors will travel from Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Rwanda Convention Bureau is helping manage security and logistics to keep the event smooth and safe.

Amapiano’s Global Impact

DJ Maphorisa’s performance in Kigali marks more than a concert. It’s a symbol of how far Amapiano has gone. The genre now appears on Billboard Africa Charts and crosses into Afrobeats and Latin pop.

Events like Fuego Fest prove East Africa’s growing role in Amapiano’s rise. More regional collaborations and tours are expected after this show.

Amapiano started as a local sound. Now, it connects an entire continent. And this October, DJ Maphorisa will prove that Africa’s heartbeat is one rhythm strong.
