Amapiano Africa Award Set For 15 November At Sun City Resort

South Africa to Host the First Amapiano Africa Awards

Amapiano is getting the recognition it deserves. The inaugural Amapiano Africa Awards will take place on 15 November 2025 at Sun City Resort, South Africa. The event will celebrate the genre’s leading artists, producers, dancers, and DJs.

The announcement, confirmed by Daily Sun and Music in Africa, marks a historic moment for the Amapiano community. For the first time, an entire awards show will focus on the genre that changed African pop culture.

Celebrating Africa’s Biggest Sound

The awards will spotlight those who made Amapiano a global force. Artists like Kabza De Small, DJ Maphorisa, Focalistic, and Tyler ICU are expected to feature prominently. Categories will cover Best Producer, Best Vocalist, Best Dance Crew, and Song of the Year.

Organizers say the goal is to “honour the township sound that became a global movement.” The event will also recognize rising stars who keep the genre fresh with new styles and collaborations.

Amapiano’s Global Reach

What started in Pretoria and Soweto is now a worldwide phenomenon. According to AFP, Amapiano music reached over 855 million global streams in 2024, with fans from Europe, Asia, and North America embracing the log-drum rhythm.

Major streaming platforms have joined in. Apple Music launched a dedicated Amapiano category page earlier this year, putting South African artists on global playlists and charts.

A Star-Studded Celebration

The Amapiano Africa Awards 2025 promises to bring together music legends, influencers, and fans under one roof. The venue, Sun City Resort, is known for hosting large-scale entertainment events.

Industry insiders hint at performances by top names and a live broadcast across multiple African networks. The show will highlight how far Amapiano has come — from backyard studio beats to global chart domination.

What This Means for African Music

This event isn’t just another award ceremony. It’s a milestone for African music recognition. Amapiano proved that local sounds could dominate global playlists without losing authenticity.

The upcoming awards are expected to push more African genres onto the world stage and inspire young creators to keep innovating within their roots.
